THE Rivalry

THE Rivalry in the FAA gets set to kick off again for the 2010 season when East Division foes Norfolk and Imperial square off this weekend in the FAA Game of the Week. The battle once again will be for the first place in the division, with Norfolk coming into the game at 5-1 and Imperial 4-2.

"Looking forward to sinking me some Shipmen this weekend" Maulers owner Steve Wagner was quoted as saying as he left Maulers practice facility yesterday. The Maulers swept the Shipmen last season on their way to a 5-1 division record and division championship in 2009 and have owned the recent series but that won't mean much on Sunday. It's on!

No Moss, Maulers roll to 4-2

The Imperial Maulers rolled over the newly added Randy Moss and Aliquippa 102-86 and moved to 4-2 on the season. It was the second straight win vs. the Rabid Ghosts and keeps them one game behind Norfolk in the East Division, with the first installment of "The Duel" coming up this week. The Norfolk-Imperial game will no doubt be FAA's Game of the Week and stay tuned to FAA News Channel's live coverage from Imperial all week leading up to the game.

Rivers saves the day for Maulers, start season 1-0

Week 1 was all about survival.

With Jerome Harrison performing poorly at the RB#2 spot, and Mike Sims-Walker pitching a goose egg at WR#2 on Sunday, the Maulers found themselves down 19 points entering Monday's games. Philip Rivers' first game in a Mauler uniform proved to be a heroic effort, scoring 26 fantasy points and securing an important 85-80 week one win against division rival Pittsburgh.

Rivers passed for 298 yards and 2 TD's, much of it in a driving rainstorm in KC, making his debut for Imperial an impressive one.

Maulers owner Steve Wagner obviously sees areas of opportunity for his team, but is satisfied with getting the season off with a win. "85 points scored and not getting anything from key areas is pretty impressive. We'll be looking at lineup changes but 1-0 is 1-0, i'll take it."

FAASPN Shock Poll: 12% of respondents think Rod is a serious contender for Fabio Cup

In a stunning new poll conducted by FAASPN, 12% of those surveyed considered the Albany Patroons and owner Rod Martin a serious contender to win the 2010 Fabio Cup.

Similar to another recent poll attracting national news in which 24% of those surveyed incorrectly believed President Obama is a muslim, 12% incorrectly identified the Patroons of having any chance to win this year's championship.

"Just to tell you how seriously deluded some people are, almost 1 in 4 people think Obama is a muslim, and half of that think Rod has a chance to win this year! Unbelievable!" said Maulers owner Steve Wagner when asked at Mauler headquarters. "Some people will believe just about everything."
