Rivers saves the day for Maulers, start season 1-0

Week 1 was all about survival.

With Jerome Harrison performing poorly at the RB#2 spot, and Mike Sims-Walker pitching a goose egg at WR#2 on Sunday, the Maulers found themselves down 19 points entering Monday's games. Philip Rivers' first game in a Mauler uniform proved to be a heroic effort, scoring 26 fantasy points and securing an important 85-80 week one win against division rival Pittsburgh.

Rivers passed for 298 yards and 2 TD's, much of it in a driving rainstorm in KC, making his debut for Imperial an impressive one.

Maulers owner Steve Wagner obviously sees areas of opportunity for his team, but is satisfied with getting the season off with a win. "85 points scored and not getting anything from key areas is pretty impressive. We'll be looking at lineup changes but 1-0 is 1-0, i'll take it."
