No Moss, Maulers roll to 4-2

The Imperial Maulers rolled over the newly added Randy Moss and Aliquippa 102-86 and moved to 4-2 on the season. It was the second straight win vs. the Rabid Ghosts and keeps them one game behind Norfolk in the East Division, with the first installment of "The Duel" coming up this week. The Norfolk-Imperial game will no doubt be FAA's Game of the Week and stay tuned to FAA News Channel's live coverage from Imperial all week leading up to the game.

Rivers saves the day for Maulers, start season 1-0

Week 1 was all about survival.

With Jerome Harrison performing poorly at the RB#2 spot, and Mike Sims-Walker pitching a goose egg at WR#2 on Sunday, the Maulers found themselves down 19 points entering Monday's games. Philip Rivers' first game in a Mauler uniform proved to be a heroic effort, scoring 26 fantasy points and securing an important 85-80 week one win against division rival Pittsburgh.

Rivers passed for 298 yards and 2 TD's, much of it in a driving rainstorm in KC, making his debut for Imperial an impressive one.

Maulers owner Steve Wagner obviously sees areas of opportunity for his team, but is satisfied with getting the season off with a win. "85 points scored and not getting anything from key areas is pretty impressive. We'll be looking at lineup changes but 1-0 is 1-0, i'll take it."

FAASPN Shock Poll: 12% of respondents think Rod is a serious contender for Fabio Cup

In a stunning new poll conducted by FAASPN, 12% of those surveyed considered the Albany Patroons and owner Rod Martin a serious contender to win the 2010 Fabio Cup.

Similar to another recent poll attracting national news in which 24% of those surveyed incorrectly believed President Obama is a muslim, 12% incorrectly identified the Patroons of having any chance to win this year's championship.

"Just to tell you how seriously deluded some people are, almost 1 in 4 people think Obama is a muslim, and half of that think Rod has a chance to win this year! Unbelievable!" said Maulers owner Steve Wagner when asked at Mauler headquarters. "Some people will believe just about everything."

Maulers make splash once again, land Rivers at QB

Imperial- Owner Steve Wagner, never shy to make moves to improve his team, has landed a top 5 fantasy QB in San Diego's Philip Rivers from the Mt Lebo Outlaws in exchange for the Maulers first round draft pick in this year's draft.

"Rivers is a flat out stud" boasted Wagner, "and he was by far better than any QB of value available in the upcoming draft or those that were offered by other teams." Wagner declined to name what other FAA teams were involved in trade talks, but it was widely rumored that the Henderson Hitmen were attempting to land WR Vincent Jackson from the Maulers in exchange for either QB Kevin Kolb or Donovan McNabb. Also rumored were the Albany Patroons, who have been shopping will he or won't he play this year QB Brett Favre.

"Nobody took those calls seriously" quipped Wagner.

The trading wasn't over, as the Maulers sent WR Steve Smith to the Aliquippa Rabid Ghosts in exchange for a 4th round pick, an obvious move made to compensate for the lack of a number one pick from the Rivers deal. "Smith is a quality WR, but we weren't keeping him because of V-Jack" said Wagner. "Rivers throwing to V-Jack this season should provide lots of points for our offense".

The Maulers haven't officially declared their keepers, but all indications point to Rivers, Vincent Jackson, and young RB's Beanie Wells and LeSean McCoy- who both have high expectations entering 2010.

"We got young at RB, but I think we got better" said Wagner. "McCoy is the lead back in a good offense in Philly, and with Warner's retirement we expect Wells to get more touches in Arizona".

The one player left out after all these moves is previous franchise QB Ben Roethlisberger. Ben's six game league suspension for being a creep off the field made it necessary for Wagner to pursue other QB's in the off-season trading. "I was Ben's biggest supporter, but the suspension and the plethora of off the field incidents was too much for our franchise to bear. We wish him the best and it is possible we could bring him back in a backup role this season." said Wagner.

Things look good for the Maulers heading into 2010. Stay tuned for further moves the franchise may make leading up to the draft.
